About Dr. Panattoni: Dr. Joao (Joe) Panattoni sees both adult and pediatric patients, specializing in Orthopaedic Hand Surgery, Reconstructive Microsurgery, upper extremity traumatic injuries and pediatric hand surgery. After concluding his Orthopedic and Traumatology residency, Dr. Panattoni has completed a total of six years of additional training in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Fellowships in the United States and overseas. He spent 3 years at the world famous Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville KY where he worked as a Senior Fellow and was part of the team that performed the Institute’s eighth hand transplant in July 2011. He joined Saint Louis University at the end of 2011 and served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Division of Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. In 2018, he joined Vero Orthopedics … Due to his extensive training, he is able to treat many different aspects of the Hand Surgery specialty, including soft tissue coverage, wrist/hand fractures, dislocations, ligament and tendon injuries, peripheral nerve compressions, reconstructive microsurgery (vascularized free tissue transfers) and congenital anomalies. His research interests include Reconstructive Microsurgery, traumatic upper limb injuries and hand transplantation. Dr. Panattoni holds memberships in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM) and American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). He is also board certified by the Brazilian Hand Surgery Society and the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology
